Guideline on the Thermal Conductivity of Seawater
July 2015

PDF of document

Description
This guideline provides a formulation for the thermal conductivity of seawater as a function of pressure, temperature, and salinity, computed as an increment added to the thermal conductivity of pure water.
The range of validity extends up to 140 MPa, 523.15 K, and a salinity of 0.17 kg/kg.
The development of the formulation and comparison with available data are described in detail in a scientific article.

This Guideline is the product of the Working Groups "Thermophysical Properties of Water and Steam" (TPWS) and "Physical Chemistry of Aqueous Systems" (PCAS) and the "Subcommittee on Seawater" (SCSW) of the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS).
