Our first webinar is on Major Power Plant Chemistry Related Damage and Failures and are kindly hosted and supported by COMBINED CYCLE Journal (https://www.ccj-online.com)
Dr Barry Dooley who is a world renown water/steam chemistry and materials expert will provide an enlightening and informative introduction to the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS) and the Power Cycle Chemistry (PCC) Working Group. He will overview the main cycle chemistry influenced failure and damage mechanisms in Fossil and Combined Cycle Plants and introduce the IAPWS Technical Guidance Documents (TGD) to address the key aspects of the cycle chemistry deficiencies, called Repeat Cycle Chemistry Situations (RCCS), that control these mechanisms . These TGDs provide truly international cycle chemistry guidance for steam generating plants and are freely available on the IAPWS website. They include feedwater & boiler water treatments, instrumentation levels, corrosion product sampling processes, guidance for the application of film forming substances, steam purity for steam turbines, boiler carryover measurement methodology and tube sampling and analysis guidance for heat recovery steam generators. These TGDs represent the accumulated experience of members of the IAPWS PCC Working Group with expertise from 21 countries, and are used extensively around the world by plant designers, constructors, operators and all parties involved in water/steam chemistry for steam generating plants including industrial, conventional fossil, combined cycle, nuclear and geothermal plants.
